Ep. 13. Bobby Startup: The Influencer that made Philly Rock

Who the HELL is this guy!?  This guy managed the Electric Factory stage in the '60s & 70's -setting up and befriending artists like the Stones , The Who.  He was a force at South Philly's Hot Club, that made PHL a top stop for US and UK Punk and New Wave bands.  As a DJ, Bobby drove songs to become hits that charted on Billboard, and he helped a rockabilly band called the Stray Cats get an audience & negotiate their first contract. For starters.  THIS is Bobby Startup: a Philly Guy who ROCKS.

Ep. 12: Charlie Ingui, The sole Soul Survivor, Tells All

Any legit Philly teen in the mid '60s would recognize the opening bars of "Expressway To Your Heart" heard on any local pop radio station like WIBG or WFIL. It was an anthem-like experience.  Players with a combo organ or electric piano that could cover it always worked! Now, Charlie Ingui (1/3 of the voices of the Soul Survivors --brother Richie Ingui and Kenny Jeremiah) tells the Interval Studio what it was like and how it went down in '67. At 80+ he ain't done, he's got lots cooking next!
